Silver Whistle Café – Local “Guide” Food Review
Our Local “Guide” food review series continues with the Silver Whistle Café. A few of us recently met for breakfast here before our walk thru the New Orleans Garden District. The Silver Whistle Café is located in the historic circa 1927 Pontchartrain Hotel. Some famous visitors include Bogart, Sinatra, the Doors, and two U.S. Presidents. Now I’m no “foodie”and I can’t break down ingredients or explain cooking techniques. But I can tell you if I had a good meal and if the experience was enjoyable. And I always seem to forget to get a picture of what I ordered before “digging in”. For example, the Pontchartrain Benedict – biscuit, poached eggs, ham and hollandaise. However, I did capture a picture of their “famous” Blueberry Muffin before it disappeared.
Great Food and Service
There was plenty of great tasting food (I didn’t need the muffin but had to try it?) served quickly. The wait staff was friendly, efficient, big smiles and genuinely happy to see us! The Silver Whistle Café is a great choice if you’re starting your day in the Garden District. It is located directly across the street from the starting point for The Savvy Native’s Garden District Tour. Hours are daily from 7am – 3pm. ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️
